Notaries can take affidavits or declarations by having you swear or affirm that the material included in a document is true, and they can also confirm the authenticity of signatures, marks, and copies of papers. In accordance with the Notaries Act, notaries are appointed by the Ministry of the Attorney General.

Affidavits and declarations can be taken by commissioners for taking oaths by having you swear or affirm that the information contained in the document is accurate. All notaries in Ontario are also commissioners! The Commissioners for Taking Affidavits Act governs the appointment of commissioners.

You can make an appointment for the same day, yes. Although we have set business hours, we are flexible and will do our best to coordinate with you.

Our fees are $31.95 for the first notarization (notary’s stamp and signature), and $19.95 for each additional notarization. We charge per notarization or commission, not per page. See our Fees page for more information.

You must bring either one piece of valid government-issued identification (e.g., driver's licence or passport) or two pieces of government-issued non-photo identification (e.g., social insurance card or birth certificate) to your appointment. You must bring the documents you require notarized. If you require printing services, you must notify us before the appointment. Please do not sign any documents until the appointment. If you require certified true copies of a document, you must bring the original document and the copies to be certified.

For most documents, you are required to sign while in the presence of the Notary Public or Commissioner. As such, you will need to redraft/fill in the document once again and bring an unsigned copy with you to your appointment.
